Hamden Black History Committee Events

The Hamden Black History Committee holds events throughout the year to highlight and celebrate the many accomplishments of historical figures as well as contemporaries in our community.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day

In January of 2024, Bible Gospel Center, Inc. of Hamden, Connecticut hosted this annual event. We thank Pastor Darius Good for his warm hospitality.

Black History Month Celebration

In February of 2024, the HBHC, Inc. held is annual Black History Month Celebration at the Hamden Memorial Town Hall. This events honors outstanding members of the community for their achievements, dedication and service.

Book Awards

In June of 2024, the HBHC held it’s annual Book Awards ceremony at Hamden High School.

Fund Raising Dinner

On June 18th, 2024, the HBHC held it’s annual Dinner & Karaoke Scholarship Fund Raiser at Lynon’s Restaurant and Bar in Hamden, CT.

– 32 Graduating seniors applied for Book Awards 
– 11 Graduating seniors received Book Awards
– Of the 11 Graduating seniors, 10 received a $1,000 Book Award and 1 received a $2,000 Book Award
